about

For this project Daniel Roser and Gustan Asselbergs invited Swiss oud-player Christian Moser to embark on a musical journey. In search of a sonic realm that gives space to the wide variety of sounds and timbres of the oud, the piano, and the drums, these three musicians developed a rich yet delicate language that enables them to use the full scope of their instruments. The five pieces on Tides not only reflect new ways of combining compositional structures with improvisational elements, but also show a subtle dialogue between traditions. The Old Church in Spaarndam, with its unique acoustics, appeared to be the perfect place to record. Like all musical gestures, rooted in a deeper stream that shapes our individuality, Tides is the story of a musical unfolding.
